ARTS SCHOLARSHIPS
The Starkville Area Arts Council College Arts Scholarship
The Starkville Area Arts Council (SAAC) announces the availability of two $1000.00 scholarships to two graduating seniors who have been accepted into a field of the arts in a college or university. These fields may include theatre arts, choral music, instrumental music, applied art, graphic design, or dance.
Students must be from the Starkville or Okttibeha County area. Students may attend public schools, private schools, or home school programs. Students requesting the SAAC Arts Scholarships must not yet be attending college.
Students should fill out the application and return it to the SAAC Scholarship Committee, 206 Hiwassee Drive, Starkville, MS 39759. The recommendation form should be completed by the student’s current artistic mentor(s) addressing the commitment and skill level demonstrated by the student, and should be sent directly by the mentor(s) to the SAAC Scholarship Committee at the above address.
All applications should be completed by April 14, 2008.
Applications will be reviewed by the SAAC Scholarship Committee. Finalists may possibly be brought before the committee for a display/audition before a decision is made.
Winners and non-winners will be contacted personally and then an announcement will appear in the Starkville Daily News and the SAAC Newsletter. The scholarships will be awarded at the senior spring awards ceremony at the students’ schools.
Money will be paid directly to the college or university.
The SAAC Arts Scholarship recipients may be asked to present a recital or display at an SAAC function.

The Starkville Area Arts Council Arts Scholarship
The Starkville Area Arts Council (SAAC) announces the availability of scholarships for Starkville/Oktibbeha area youth interested in advanced training in the arts. The amounts given to individual students may be in amounts of $50.00, $75.00, $100.00, $250.00 or up to $500.00. The scholarship money may be used to support private instruction in the arts: group lessons, private lessons, tuition for a workshop or summer camp, competition fees, or other activities that lead to the artistic development of the scholarship recipient. The money will be divided to worthy youth.
Students requesting the SAAC Arts Scholarship must be between 10 and 18 years old, not yet attending college, and should be accepted to advance training (lessons, workshops, conferences, competitions, etc.).
A recommendation form will be included with the application and both may be picked up from guidance counselors in the area schools or by writing the SAAC Scholarship Committee, 206 Hiwassee Drive, Starkville, MS 39759.
