Dr. Chris Dewey

Artist Statement: Chris Dewey is a geologist, a university professor, business owner, a martial artist,  newsletter writer, published poet and a nature photographer. Chris was born in England, and received his doctorate in geology while he lived in Newfoundland, Canada. He moved to Starkville in 1984, where he holds a faculty position at Mississippi State University. He is also the owner of the Starkville Martial Arts Academy and has been training in the martial arts since 1968. He started taking photographs when he was about twelve and has photographed on four continents. Dr. Dewey is the 2009 recipient of 1st Place at the Prairie Arts Festival in the drawing, graphic arts and photography section.
